What is ECO by Cosentino?
ECO™ by Cosentino is a durable surface made of 75% recycled content composed of post-industrial or post-consumer materials and is bound by an environmentally friendly resin which comes in part from corn oil. Did you know that ECO™ by Cosentino countertops are composed of:
- Mirrors salvaged from houses, building and factories;
- Glass from windshields, windows and bottles;
- Granulated glass from consumer recycling practices;
- Porcelain from china, tiles, sinks, toilets and ECO by Cosentino elements
ECO by Cosentino uses products that have reached the end of their lifecycle – this means materials being used in ECO by Cosentino cannot be incorporated in to any other industrial product that would otherwise collect in landfills.
In the first year’s production of ECO by Cosentino we will use the equivalent to 2 million standard sized bathroom mirrors (10.5 sq ft).
ECO by Cosentino will use the equivalent of 539K sq ft of ceramic material yearly.
ECO by Cosentino uses an eco-friendly resin with 22% of its composition coming from vegetable origin (mainly corn).

ECO by Cosentino Countertops Care & Maintenance:
ECO by Cosentino surfaces are low in porosity and do not need sealing making cleaning easy. To maintain ECO surfaces’ beauty and shine, simply wipe the surface with soap and water on a regular basis.
- Cleaning up Difficult Spills on your ECO by Cosentino Countertops:
- Clean all spills immediately. To remove difficult spills, soak the area for 10 minutes with a gentle pH-balanced house cleaner or regular soap and water. Then rinse and clean away with a soft cloth. Acceptable cleaners include Windex®, 409®, Lysol® or other similar cleaners. For stains that harden as they dry, such as food and gum, remove by gently scraping off the surface (using a blade or putty remover), and then clean using warm water and soap and a soft cloth. Do not use any chemical sealant products on your ECO by Cosentino Countertops.
- How well ECO by Cosentino Countertops deal with Extreme Heat:
- ECO by Cosentino surfaces perform okay against heat and can withstand moderately high temperatures for brief periods of time without being damaged. As with any stone surface, however, certain exposure to heat may cause cracks due to thermal shock. Always use a trivet or a cutting board to place hot items on ECO by Cosentino surfaces. Do not use crock pots, electric skillets or other hot items directly on ECO by Cosentino surfaces.
- Harsh Chemicals on your ECO by Cosentino Countertops:
- The following chemicals will harm ECO by Cosentino surfaces: Drano®, Liquid Plummer® oven cleaners and floor strippers. DO NOT use these or any other harsh chemicals on your ECO surface.
- Sunlight Exposure and you ECO by Cosentino Countertops:
- Avoild continuous long-term exposure to direct sunlight (UV Rays) which may result in slight discoloration of ECO by Cosentino surfaces.
- ECO by Cosentino General Precautions:
- Avoid cutting directly on ECO by Cosentino surfaces. To prolong the life of your knives, always use a cutting board. ECO by Cosentino surfaces are durable, but avoid using knives directly on the surface. ECO by Cosentino surfaces may scratch and will also dull the sharpness of most knives.

- Glass containers are 100 percent recyclable, they can be recycled endlessly; and ECO by Cosentino. Recycled glass is used as the majority ingredient in new glass containers.
- The typical glass processing facility can recycle up to 20 tons of glass per hour.
- Every ton of glass that is recycled results in one ton of raw materials saved to process new glass, including: 1,300 pounds of sand, 410 pounds of soda ash and 380 pounds of limestone.
