FAQ – Facts about Marquis Marble Countertop Surfaces:

What is Marquis?

Marquis is an enhanced marble for vanities, shower walls, tub decks – virtually any bathroom surface. Marquis is made up of 93 percent marble and seven percent polyester resin and pigments, making it more durable, consistent and dependable than quarried or cultured marble. Marquis is a tremendously versatile surfacing product; affordable yet beautiful, and is available in exquisite colors that will fit most individual styles and tastes. It is a beautiful surface for kitchen countertops, bathroom vanities, and nearly any other surface.

The Benefits of Marquis Countertops:

Unlike ordinary marble, Marquis Marble has a much lower liquid absorption rate and needs very little maintenance to keep its original beauty and ultra-smooth surface.
Marquis Marble is more resistant to scratches and stains than quarried or cultured marble and does not require any special cleaning or polishing.

  • Beige – a smooth café au lait speckled with small off-white flecks
  • Bottachino – a limestone-like tint with light-brown veins

  • Chocolato – a rich auburn with mahogany and white flecks
  • Empadoro – a mosaic of rich-brown and dark-espresso veining

Care & Maintenance of Marquis Countertops:

  • To clean Marquis Countertops, you need only a damp cloth or paper towel.
  • In case of stubborn spots, a small amount of liquid detergent is sufficient.
  • For extremely difficult stains, mild household cleaners such as Formula 409® or Lysol® may be used without damaging the Marquis countertop. All hazy residue must be completely rinsed off to avoid diminishing the shine and beauty of the surface.
  • Sealing your Marquis surface once a year will suffice; any marble sealer available will do. Follow the product’s manufacturer’s instructions when applying.

CAUTION:

  • No Surface is indestructible. As with any surface, Marquis Countertops can be damaged by exposure to acid chemicals and some solvents.
  • Do not use products containing trichlorethane or methylene chloride, such as paint removers or furniture strippers.
  • Avoid chemicals containing high acidity (low pH levels) and organic acids.
  • In the event of accidental exposure to any of these damaging products, thoroughly rinse with water as soon as possible.
